Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL) offers solid foundation in the fields of linguistics, language pedagogy and applied linguistics research along with coursework on a broad range of topics important to the development of English language education professionals.
Masters in Teaching a Foreign Language (MATFL) degree equips language teachers with the ability to be flexible and innovative as they respond to various types of learners' needs, cultural differences, and language program requirements. While the majority of the MATFL coursework is conducted in English, student projects focus on their language of study.
Peace Corps Masters International TESOL (PCMI) offers the opportunity to combine a degree in teaching English with serving in the US Peace Corps. PCMI students complete one year of course work at the Monterey Institute prior to their Peace Corps experience and return for one semester to complete coursework and reflect on the intersection of theory and practice.
