My Institute Experience
Picture of Angela Dadak
Continuing to be part of the Graduate School of Language and Educational Linguistics community today is refreshing and invigorating. Meeting at the TESOL convention, collaborating on projects across the US, sharing ideas, being inspired by Monterey Institute classmates and colleagues…the benefits continue long after graduation.

Intensive English Programs

Intensive English as a Second Language (ESL)

Our ESL program is designed for beginning and intermediate students of English.  This program will help you improve your language skills for conversation, daily life, and academic study.  No TOEFL score is required.

English for Academic and Professional Purposes (EAPP) Bridge

If your reasons for studying English are primarily academic, this advanced program may be right for you.  EAPP Bridge is designed to prepare international students for academic work at an American university.  Professionals interested in improving their public speaking and writing skills are also encouraged to apply. Students in this program should have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 61 (or 500 PBT).

English Preparation for Translation and Interpretation (EPTI)

This program is offered once a year each summer. Designed for students who have been admitted to the MA Translation and Interpretation program, this program focuses on high-level English, specifically for translators and interpreters. Qualified professional translators and interpreters may also participate to brush up on their skills.  In order to be admitted, students must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 100 (or 600 PBT).

Custom Language Services (CLS)

Our most flexible option, Custom Language Services can arrange an individualized program of English study, focused on your specific needs.  Programs can be arranged for any level (beginners through advanced), for any length of time (minimum 60 hours), and can start at any time of year.  Corporate visitors, government officials, tourists, and local students are all welcome.  No TOEFL score is required.
