The English language is by many considered the international language used for doing business. Playing such an important role in international business, it has, therefore become more and more important for non-English speaking executives and professionals to improve their understanding and use of the English language.
 Although English language training is offered in many countries around the world as well as through group intensive ESL programs in the USA, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand, most professionals find that these programs do not fit their specific needs for focused and intensive instruction in a particular area, nor do they match the needs for scheduling flexibility required by working professionals.
Custom Language Services (CLS) is an innovative service designed for just such ‘students’ whose needs are not met through traditional language instruction settings. Whether you are a Chinese CEO involved in the import-export business, a French journalist being sent on assignments throughout the world or a government official representing a nation in Africa, you will find the flexible format of CLS right for you.
Instruction in a custom program...
- is tailored to your specific language study needs;
- is provided by instructors who are trained in the field and come with extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language;
- is flexible in scheduling;
- introduces you to key social, cultural and political aspects of the country (if desired); and
- may be directed toward a specific geographic or regional area.
Customized programs can be set up year-round and can be arranged within three weeks notice from the time an application is received, although more notice is highly recommended for summer study. Total program-length and scheduling are also flexible so that you can truly get a program that meets your needs. A minimum of 60 hours is required however, as we strongly believe that language study at lesser intensity is not truly valuable.
 Classes are usually arranged in two-hour blocks with a 10-minute break each hour. For the more intensive programs, you will work with a team of instructors.
Classes are taught using a communicative approach to language study (unless otherwise requested) and programs are developed using a variety of techniques and media. Role-play of the situations typically found in communicating with clients is one example of the custom approach. Likewise is the inclusion of terminology specific to your professional field or interest area whether that is business, law, tourism, politics, etc.
The Monterey Bay area is a beautiful venue for your study. The weather, outdoor recreation activities (including world-class golf at Pebble Beach), and safe, small-town environment create the perfect atmosphere for study away from office pressures.
