My Institute Experience
Picture of Akihiko Sasaki
I was greatly affected by the faculty members’ devoted attitudes in teaching. Regardless of their hectic schedule, they diligently cared about each student’s learning throughout the program. I appreciate not only the subject matter they taught, but also the real professionalism as teachers they demonstrated. I realized, when I returned to Japan, that this attitude is the crucial factor to be a good teacher at elementary and secondary school level. It surely contributes to my current career.

We appreciate your patience.

For applicants who DO NOT plan to enter a Monterey Institute degree program this Fall:

1. For admission to the program, you must provide proof of your English proficiency. Summer students must either pass the Monterey Institute’s Early Diagnostic Test (EDT) or provide a minimum official TOEFL record of 600 (paper-based)/100 (Internet-based).

If you do not have a TOEFL score, contact the Graduate School of Translation & Interpretation (GSTI) at gsti@miis.edu to request an EDT (Early Diagnostic Test) and return these materials promptly to them by e-mail. Your test will be reviewed to determine whether you qualify for the Summer EPTI program. Please allow 2 weeks for complete review of your EDT.
